Talk by AIDWA (All India Democratic Women’s Association) State level secretary Mrs.D.Ramadevi on 3rd SEPTEMBER on the topic atrocities on women-measures to be taken.



On 1st November 2014, students of the women empowerment cell were given an exposure to the talk on “Positive Thinking” by Brahma Kumaris of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Rajayoga Training Centre of Eluru


Prof.Lakshmi Kasturi, Department of Political Science, Osmania University, Hyderabad and also the Director, Centre for Women’s studies delivered a talk on women empowerment  on 8t h November 2014


In commemoration of the birthday On 11.12.2014, of Sri Subhramanya Bharathi, great Hindi – Tamil poet, who played key role to uplift the status of women an essay writing competition and seminar were conducted in his honour.  Dr.R.Madhavi, H.O.D.of English. CH.S.D.St.Theresa’s college for women, Eluru was the resource person



Demonstration of Yogasanas and Yogamudras by Ms.Vijaya Ratna Kumari, Faculty of Social Sciences


 
Demonstration of Paper crafts by Mrs. Santhosh Jhawar was arranged on 22-11-2014. In the process of preparing students towards entrepreneurship certain skills were demonstrated to prepare paper crafts. This helped students to get benefit out of it as an entrepreneurial activity

 
Role plays and dramatizations were organized by involving students of various groups on atrocities that women are undergoing in their day to day life. All the groups took an active role in depicting the women’s issues. Experiences of empowered women were arranged on 8-11-2014. Students were given an opportunity to share the real life experiences of empowered women based on the   paper cuttings from the dailies and magazines. Students felt that this was a very good and enlightening experience which helps them to mould themselves for a better future.





Women’s equity day was celebrated on 27th August 2014 in our college. Mrs. Pamela Thomas, former HOD of English department was invited as the chief guest for the celebration. Student volunteers of the women empowerment cell presented brief note on the various aspects of gender discrimination in the form of symposium. Chief Guest further highlighted about the importance of women’s equity in the present day global village. This was followed by the role plays presented by   four different groups of students i.e. Helen Keller group, Durgabai Deshmukh group, Saina Nehwal group and Latha Mangeshkar group  of women empowerment cell highlighting on different aspects of the areas of gender discrimination. This was an amazing experience for all the participants, student leaders and the audience.








Students took part actively in both symposium and role plays on women’s equity day under the guidance of the committee members of Women empowerment cell – Mrs.A.Padmavathi, Mrs.Neeraja.Y, Mrs.Vijayaratnakumari, Mrs.Chukkamma
COMPETITIONS

Competitions help to gain in depth knowledge about the area concerned. They help to show the skills of the individuals. There is a wider scope for creative outlet for the participants.
