ACTIVITIES OF CENTRE FOR WOMEN'S STUDIES DURING 2017-2018

A guest lecture was organized on 26^th August, 2017. Dr.MADHUMALATHI, HOD of PG Economics was the resource person.  She presented an impressive talk on “WOMEN’S  EQUALITY” to the students of WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL.

A demonstration on making of Bakery products & Fruits Squash was organized on 15^th September, 2017, Faculty & final years students of Department of Nutrition demonstrated the recipes and processes in detail in the Nutrition laboratory of Science block.  Students of WEC actively participated in the program.

A demonstration cum workshop on embroidery was organized on September 25^th 2017. Ms.P.Priyadarshini, faculty of Fashion designing from St.Theresa’s Community college was invited as resource person

An awareness campaign on “child abuse” and “child labor” was organized by WEC to all the second year students of the college on 7^th November, 2017. Dr.Suryachakraveni, CPO, was invited as the chief guest. She enlightened the students about various aspects related to the child abuse & child labor. The three hour session was very informative & beneficial for the students .

On 18 ^th  Nov during Diabetes week in collaboration with Lions club of Eluru  WEC students tested the blood sugar levels to the residents of Titus Nagar .

On the eve of National Library Week, a medical camp was organized on 20^th November, 2017 in the district library by WEC students in collaborating with Lions club, Eluru.  As the part of the program students took active part in testing  blood pressure and blood sugar levels  for the patients.

A talk was organized on 21^st November 2017, for all the WEC students on “Importance of Nutrition” for adolescent girls with Dr.Mrs.Padmaja, faculty of Home science as a resource person. She presented an informative lecture to all the students.

On 23^rd November 2017, a yoga session was organized by Ms.G.Vijaya Ratna Kumari, faculty of History to all the WEC students. Initially  importance  and need of yoga in daily life was explained

A talk on personal Hygiene and bodily changes in adolescent girls on 28^th November, 2017 was held by Dr.Jyothi Kumari, HOD of Applied Science Department was the resource person.

Medical camp was organized in collaboration with Lions club of Helapuri. As a part of  it WEC students tested the blood pressure,blood glucose and haemoglobin levels were checked.

Academic competitions were organized by WEC for the students in the month of January 2018.  Different competitions like Essay writing on “ROLE OF WOMEN IN CULTURE & SPORTS” Elocution on “MOVIES- THEIR IMPACT ON WOMEN”, Painting and role pays on “ISSUES RELATED TO WOMEN” were held.  Good number of students took active participation in all the competitions. 

The highlight of this academic year for Women’s Studies is conducting of a two day 

International Conference On Women In 21^st Century – Challenges And Opportunities on

 9^th and 10^th of Feb 2018 along with Depts. of Management Studies and Social Sciences.

 VALEDICTORY

Women’s Empowerment Cell valedictory was held on 22nd of February 2018. Sr.Sunila Rani .P. Controller of Examinations was the Chief Guest. Dr.Mrs.G. Jyothi H.O.D. of Chemistry was the Guest of Honour. Student leaders handed over their badges. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions.
